Ameena Rojee
Photographer Ameena Rojee came in to give us a lecture about her life and career so far. I found her work very interesting, particularly her photo series studying Kung Fu in China. I like how she captured the many different aspects of her trip. Not just the fight training, but the meditation, pain and surroundings. All elements of this fighting. Her photographs could have seemed tourist-like but she executed and thought about them in a way that makes them seem slightly out of the ordinary, I found this interesting as it was a prime example of what we have been studying in class. You could tell that she doesn’t just take the photo, theres a thought process behind every one. I also liked her photographs of the cadets using film, I liked how the way she took them didn’t make her look like an outsider just coming in and taking photographs of them, they show that she was part of them and involved with them.
